Summer at The Corky Violet had one clear favorite. Water Day.
Our children looked forward to it all week long. By the time the trays and the sprinklers came out, our whole building was ready.
Every Age Group Got In
Water Day ran every week from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Alabama stays hot deep into August, so we kept it going right up to the holiday weekend.
Our Lil Lillies splashed in shallow trays on their covered porch, a few steps from their own classroom door. Our Buttercups and Azaleas ran the sprinklers out on our two acres. Even our babies got their turn in the water.
Our Teachers Played Right Alongside Them
Our teachers climbed into it with our children. They ran through the sprinklers. They came back inside just as wet as our kids did, laughing the whole way.
A child learns joy by watching it happen. Our children got a whole summer of watching the grownups they love have fun.
What Water Does For A Growing Body
Water play is sensory work. It wakes up muscles, skin, and attention all at once.
Our children poured. They splashed. They chased, squeezed, and stomped. Every one of those moves builds strength, balance, and coordination.
The Quietest Afternoons Of The Year
Every teacher here will tell you the same thing about Water Day. The building goes still afterward. Our children go down fast and sleep hard.
Thank You To Our Teachers
Our teachers planned every one of these mornings. They got our children ready, kept them safe, and made the whole thing look easy.
Our children are already asking about next summer.
