This week at The Corky Magnolia Den, our classrooms kicked off the FrogStreet All About Me unit with a look at our own faces and bodies. In Little Stinkers, our youngest friends practiced pointing to and naming their eyes, nose, mouth, and ears, building the first steps of self awareness through songs, mirrors, and gentle hands on play.
Next door, our Friendly Foxes explored Awesome Me with activities centered on their physical selves, stretching, balancing, and moving their bodies in new ways as they built body awareness and confidence. Our Wolf Pups took the same theme further in Marvelous Me, connecting physical awareness to independence and getting ready for the routines of a busy Pre-K day.
Across all three classrooms, teachers wove in the Den’s C.O.R.K.Y.S. values, especially Kindness and Community and Connection, reminding children that getting to know themselves is also a step toward understanding and caring for their friends. It was a full week of curiosity, connection, and a whole lot of wild wonder, right here at the Den.
